Meet the Women Techsters Fellows – Class of 2026

The Women Techsters Fellowship Class of 2026 brings together a determined new generation of women ready to shape the future of Africa’s tech landscape. Among them are fresh graduates eager to launch their careers, mothers daring to take a bold step into something new, mid-career professionals pivoting into tech, and even women who began with nothing but curiosity about what was possible if they learn digital skills.

In January 2025, applications for the Women Techsters Fellowship went live and the response was extraordinary. More than 14,540 women from 70 countries and 1,500+ cities applied, all eager to take a bold step into the world of technology.

After a rigorous selection process, 1,530 women earned their spots in the Class of 2026, each carrying a unique story but sharing one goal; to change their lives and communities through technology.

Over the next twelve months, the new fellows will embark on a comprehensive journey that blends world-class technical training with real-world experience. The program runs in two phases: the first six months focus on intensive technical learning, while the second half offers hands-on opportunities through internships, volunteering, freelancing, entrepreneurship, and mentorship. This approach ensures that fellows don’t just learn in theory but also gain practical experience to apply their skills effectively. This year’s cohort will specialize across seven core learning tracks: DevOps, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Engineering, Mobile Application Development, Product Design, Product Management, and Software Development (Frontend and Backend).

What makes this class truly remarkable is its diversity. Fellows come from more than 70 countries and over 1,500 cities, each bringing a unique story and perspective. While the largest number hail from Nigeria (997), Kenya (178), South Africa (75), Ghana (44), and Ethiopia (41), there are fellows from as far as Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Uganda, a proof that the desire to grow knows no borders.

For us at Tech4Dev, the Women Techsters Fellowship is more than just a program, it’s part of our mission to bridge the gender gap in technology by empowering women with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to thrive in the digital economy.

Each fellow carries a dream, to learn, innovate, and contribute to Africa’s digital future. As the Women Techsters Class of 2026 begins this journey, we can’t wait to see how this incredible class will use their skills to challenge norms, drive innovation, and change the narrative for women in tech across Africa. Follow their progress and celebrate their milestones with us as we nurture the next generation of women leaders in technology.
